If Something Goes Wrong !!!
The Weddings in Antalya by Liberty Hotels Lara guide on what do you do if something unexpected happens at your wedding that borders on disastrous?
We all envision a perfect wedding day, which is why Weddings in Antalya By Liberty Hotels Lara will let you in on a little secret: there are no perfect wedding days. There are so many details that go into planning a wedding that there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way. Fortunately, most of the problems that pop up are minor and usually aren't even noticed by the happy couple.
Weather.
Hands down, the biggest “disaster” that most couples experience is poor weather on their wedding day. Even in Turkey, the weather can sometimes take a turn for the worse when you least expect it to. The key to handling this type of problem is to plan ahead by having a plan B in place as a backup option. During the meeting with our couples, we always without fail, advise them of Plan B just in case the weather does take a turn for the worse. Thankfully, we have only had to enforce ‘Plan B’ on one particular occasion in May of 2014, when the heavens really did open up. The civil wedding ceremony went ahead and was staged at one of our indoor venues because the marriage registrar was unavailable to perform the ceremony at a later date.
‘Every cloud has a silver lining’ and it is most certainly true in this case. Naturally our couple were disappointed their wedding ceremony could not be performed on the pier on their preferred date due to the horrendous weather conditions. What our bride was not aware of was that all eight hundred or so guests were assembled in our reception lobby. The moment our bride came out of her room with her bridesmaids, the resident guests who were assembled in the Lobby/reception area all stood up in unison and proceeded to give our bride a rapturous round of applause. The applause continued as our bride walked along the balcony and down the stairs to the Select Bar where we were all assembled. This turned out to be a priceless moment in the face of adversity.
Two days later, when the weather was glorious, we performed the entire wedding ceremony for our couple on our impressive pier as a symbolic ceremony. The ceremony was still officiated as we drafted the entire script specially for them.
This enabled our couple to take the stunning photographs they so desperately wanted. In this respect our couple enjoyed two weddings ceremonies for the price of one.
Drunk guests.
Alcoholic beverages are freely accessible at the Liberty Hotels Lara as it is part of the ‘Ultra’ All-inclusive concept and there is always a possibility that someone will overindulge. In the main, we have not to date experienced any alcohol related incidents due to over-indulgence. We tend to encourage our wedding guests to have a wonderful time and in a subtle manner, kindly request they control their alcohol intake as not to cause any inconvenience to other resident guests.
AWOL Wedding Suppliers.
Very rarely has one of our trusted wedding suppliers failed to turn up with the bride’s all important bouquet or the Tiffany chairs have not been delivered. You get the picture as there are a thousand or so possible scenarios that can throw a spanner into the works so to speak. Because of the meticulous attention to detail of the Weddings in Antalya by Liberty Hotels Lara team, the possibility of such situations occurring are quickly nipped in the bud.
Wardrobe issues/malfunctions.
Forgotten clothing items, ripped hems, stained gowns, missing socks, shredded nylons, broken bra straps… we have seen and experienced it all.
Could you imagine one of our brides arriving to the Liberty Hotels Lara only to realise they have forgotten their wedding dress? Thankfully this has never happened but just in case it did, there is no need to worry because there are around one hundred, that’s right, one hundred bespoke and elegant Wedding dress boutiques in Antalya.
We have an excellent Premium shopping Mall in close proximity for the occasional tie or shirt that has been left behind in the United Kingdom.
One particular near miss or close call which could have had disastrous consequences, involves a delightful young family from the UK.
During the meeting, we requested to see our couples marriage documents when we noticed the ‘Apostille’ document was torn away from the ‘Affidavit’ . We called the marriage registrar in Antalya and proceeded to explained the unfortunate predicament however, her response was that the Apostille much remain attached in it’s original state otherwise it is deemed worthless and void. She requested we proceed to the Medical facility and obtain the signed blood test report because without the signed blood test report document the wedding ceremony will cannot go ahead.
There was still a glimmer of hope as we made the short journey from the private medical facility, through the historical old quarter of the city to the Antalya Municipality marriage registrars office.
Under normal circumstances, the entire procedure takes no more than 20 minutes at the very most, except on this particular occasion the registrar went on to confirm our worst fears. The ‘Apostille’ attached to the Affidavit had been physically removed, therefore in the eyes of Turkish bureaucratic system, it was deemed unusable.
Picture the scene of heartbreaking disappointment as we explained the outcome to our couple.
After frantic phone calls to the British Consulate in Antalya, we managed to arrange an emergency appointment and the very next morning a replacement Affidavit & Apostille were issued which was then legalised by the Municipality of Antalya. Needless to say, our couple were quite literally ‘over the moon’ as were their respectively family and friends who were patiently awaiting their return. Their wedding can be best described in the true sense as a fairytale ending.
